This summer, Soccer Mommy, otherwise known as Sophia Regina Allison, put out stripped versions from her 2024 album, Evergreen. Both the stripped and album versions feel like having the windows down, driving on the back roads of your home town. The differences feel to be in between the lines. The strings of the stripped versions carry a yearning for the originals.  

The journey of Evergreen was explored on her September tour. In my opinion, she couldn’t have picked a better month: changing seasons, last times and great waves of nostalgia. Though she played songs from four of her albums, Evergreen’s theme was prominent throughout her set. Soccer Mommy’s show in Pittsburgh, PA was at Mr. Smalls, a venue that also brings a similar energy to her latest album. A former church, Mr. Smalls encapsulates the melancholic nostalgia for a Soccer Mommy show.

Though her tour is coming to an end as the month closes out, I doubt this is the last we will see of her and her music. Fingers crossed as we head into October and look forward to what comes next.
