The Irish–Scottish rock group Snow Patrol recently headlined a packed night at New York City’s Brooklyn Paramount in support of their latest album, The Forest is the Path. This recent endeavor across North American on tour marks their first time in the country since 2019 and acted as a celebration of their art since their formation in 1994.

At this time, the group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Gary Lightbody; guitarist and backup vocalist Nathan Connolly; pianist/keyboardist, backup vocalist, and guitarist Johnny McDaid; and drummer Ash Soan.

The opener on this leg of the tour was Irish singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson, who mentioned her excitement about playing a venue as large as Brooklyn Paramount as someone who once lived in New York City. She also spoke about her experience on the Snow Patrol tour and encouraged fans to say hello at the merch table following her set.

At 9PM, the lights dimmed for a second time and a video introducing Snow Patrol (made specifically for New York!) began to play. The screen went black for a moment before the lights flashed back on and the band’s walkout was met with cheers all over the crowd.

Snow Patrol is known to be an energetic and charismatic band that captivates audiences at shows all over the world, and the night in Brooklyn was a strong testament to the onstage reputation they have built for themselves over the years. The band’s set, noted by Gary Lightbody himself, featured a mix of hits both old and new, so that fans could enjoy hearing music from throughout their entire career. Throughout the night, the crowd got to hear new songs like “All” and “Talking About Hope” as well as the cult classic, “Chasing Cars,” which has racked up over 1B streams on Spotify and was featured on critically acclaimed TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. The mix of nostalgia tinged with the inclusion of recent releases allowed the band to connect with their audience for a truly unforgettable evening. “Chasing Cars” is one of the handful of songs I remember hearing growing up, and being able to see Snow Patrol in concert after all of these years was a really full-circle moment for me.

You can purchase tickets to Snow Patrol’s upcoming tour dates on their website, and I absolutely recommend that you do. They are a fantastic group to see!
