Sandwiched between rock bands Easy Action and Dinosaur Jr., indie rock artist Snail Mail (aka Lindsey Jordan) played to a full crowd in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 27, 2025. At the beautiful outdoor venue of the Frederik Meijer Gardens, Jordan took the stage wearing bright chartreuse mary janes and a t-shirt from the acclaimed A24 film, I Saw the TV Glow, to share her raw, beautiful, and emotional tracks.

Snail Mail’s last full-length project, Valentine, took over the majority of her setlist; playing tracks like “Automate”, “Glory”, “Headlock”, “Madonna”, and the title track, “Valentine”. The crowd was also treated to newer songs and a cover of This is Lorelei’s “Two Legs”. In watching Jordan perform, you can feel the sense of pride and hard work she has put into her artistry. Coming up from a relatively normal life in Maryland, Jordan was inspired by punk rock, citing seeing Paramore live as a “big moment” in her childhood. From there, she began booking her own sets at coffee shops and restaurants to get her name out there and in 2018 made the decision to forgo college to focus on her career.

Since then, the group known as Snail Mail has toured the world and found themselves on stages as large as Coachella, Shaky Knees, Pitchfork, and more. Jordan also played a small role in A24’s I Saw the TV Glow, hence the Pink Opaque t-shirt, and contributed to the film’s soundtrack. Inspiration is a tricky thing. Watching from the outside, you witness audience members young and old being captivating by Jordan’s melodies and lyricism. However, only a few will take that inspiration to make their dreams a reality. Jordan being one of the lucky ones.

The Dinosaur Jr. and Snail Mail co-headlining tour continues through early August with the final date in Seattle, Washington.
