SE SO NEON made their long-awaited return to Chicago with a packed show at The Vic Theatre. The <NOW> Tour marks the band's third show in Chicago and a near halfway mark of the current leg.

The three-piece, made up of front-woman Soyoon, bassist Spencer, and drummer Gyun, hail from all over the world, with roots in South Korea and bases in LA. SE SO NEON was formed in 2019 by Soyoon, also known for her solo work as So!yoON! - and focuses on transcending language and genre. The music is driven by Soyoon's impressive guitar licks and songwriting rooted in her own experiences. The <NOW> tour marks the release of the band's latest project of the same name, which was released in August, featuring the lead single “Remember!”

The energy at The Vic was electric as the band took the stage and opened the set with tracks from earlier in SE SO NEON’s discography. The musicianship between the three members is off the charts, with everyone locked into the soaring instrumentals in tracks “joke!” and “Gurumi.” The setlist was filled with songs from the aforementioned <NOW> and ments from Soyoon chronicling her experiences as an artist and the creation of the project.

<NOW> marks SE SO NEON’s first full-length album. Soyoon detailed her experience with why she waited so long to release an LP, explaining that after debuting at 19, she wanted to gain more experiences to write about. <NOW> isn’t about the past, but the experiences she’s had in the present time after traveling across the world and landing LA.

Nevertheless, the setlist was not short of fan favorites. Fans yelled back lyrics to indie-hits “Go Back” and “NAN CHUN” and the band ended with an explosive performance of “Midnight Train.” But, before officially ending the show, the three came back for an encore with a near therapeutic performance of “Kidd.”

SE SO NEON <NOW> Tour is nothing short of incredible, filled with energetic performances and incredible musicianship; the show is a must-see for indie fans. The North American leg still has a wide array of stops across the US, Canada, and Mexico, and the band shows no sign of slowing down after this triumphant album.
