K-Rock band Rolling Quartz brought their second world tour “Stand Up” to Joe’s Live Rosemont! The five-piece made up of Arem, Iree, Yeongeun, Jayoung, and Hyunjung hail from South Korea and self-formed their band when the girls were still in high school. Since then, Rolling Quartz officially debuted in 2020 with “Blaze,” and have since released numerous mini-albums and their most recent single “RE.BOLD.” The Chicago show took place at the halfway point of the “Stand Up” tour, after Rolling Quartz visited cities all across Europe, Canada, and North America.

Diadem (fandom) were in for a real treat with the “Stand Up” tour, not only could fans experience their incredible stage show, but were offered VIP opportunities to take selfies and experience a fansign as well as a sound check.

Diadem is an eclectic fandom! With fans of all ages and aesthetics - the crowd being an even split of metal heads and K-Pop fans sporting lightsticks.

The set opened with each member of Rolling Quartz stepping onto the stage one by one and greeting their fans, followed by an electric cover of “Kickstart My Heart” by Mötley Crüe, where the members were able to take control of the audience with their incredible musicianship and stage presence.

The setlist was filled with tracks from their discography, including title tracks “Blaze,” “Stand Up,” and “Victory” - as well as an impressive batch of covers including “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga and a mash-up of BTS’ “MIC Drop” and “Pink Venom” by BLACKPINK that the girls put their rock n’ roll twist on.

Lead singer, Jayoung, was on fire - with her vocals effortlessly soaring over each and every song, showing no signs of tiring 15+ stops into tour. Each member of Rolling Quartz is crucial to what makes them so unique. Iree and Hyunjung are unbelievable guitarists who almost communicate via guitar riffs, all while harmonizing with Jayoung. Arem brings an edgy air to the group, with her sultry bass lines - and while Yeongeun’s cute looks can be deceiving, her complex and powerful drumming brings every song together.

The set ended with an encore featuring a cover of My Chemical Romance’s “Helena,” followed by the members tossing guitar picks and giving fans high fives.

The “Stand Up” tour is an impressive show of talent, charm, and pop-rock n’ roll music anyone can enjoy. If you missed the Chicago stop, no need to fret, Rolling Quartz still has shows in California, Texas, Canada, and plenty of states in between.
