p1Harmony Releases 8th Mini Album

Article by Mollie Menuck

Six-member boy group, P1Harmony, has released their 8th mini-album, DUH!. The album showcases the group’s ever-evolving sound and versatility throughout the six tracks, with each one exploring a different sub-genre.

DUH! marks P1Harmony’s first release of the year. After taking over the K-Pop scene in 2024 with a world tour, which included a performance at New York’s Govenor’s Ball and the release of their first full-length album Killin’ It, the group dominated Billboard’s World Chart and earned them their first ever music show win. Their 8th mini-album is highly anticipated for their fandom, also known asP1ece, after their last comeback, SAD SONG, was released in September 2024.

As P1Harmony has evolved, the members have begun to participate more in the creation of their songs. Intak focussed on writing, while Keeho concentrated on composition. Both Jiung and Jongseob aided in writing and composition - all while each member contributed their incredible vocals and rap skills for the project.

“DUH!” also marks the name of the title track. The song explores the 90s hip-hop genre laced with synths reminiscent of a GTA soundtrack. Though “DUH!” explores uncharted genres, it remains distinct with P1Harmony’s signature sound. The boom-bap instrumental is paired with the boy’s cheeky lyrics and a hook marked with a sassy “duh!” Additionally, “DUH!” was accompanied with the release of a music video directed by Seong Wonmo, who has previously directed videos for ATEEZ, Loona, and &TEAM.

The second track off DUH!, “Pretty Boy,” transitions into a more sultry vibe. The reggaeton beats are matched with sensual lyrics that ooze with the boy’s confidence - “Pretty girls like pretty boys like me… call me pretty boy.” “Murmur” continues with the same theme of confidence. The R&B track resumes with the 90s vibe, leaning back into a soulful instrumental infused with piano and horns. “Murmur” is a callout to P1Harmony’s haters packed with digs - “I’m chillin’ on the top floor, we're up above you.” “You know the beats keep playin’ the boys keep slayin.”

“Flashy” is a departure from the hip-hop sound and a return to form. The EDM track opens with an electric guitar riff and shoots off into a dance-pop anthem. “Over and Over” continues with the 2010s sound, centering around a saxophone riff reminiscent of hits like “Worth It” by Fifth Harmony and “Talk Dirty” by Jason Derulo.

The final song on DUH!, “Work,” is co-produced by Jongseob, the youngest member of P1Harmony. “Work” was the first track teased off the album and leaves a lasting impression with listeners. The house beat is an incredible fusion of hyper-pop drums, ballroom-esque dips, and a perfect showcase of each of the members’ unique vocal styles.

DUH! is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the members of P1Harmony. Each member has distinctive vocals and signatures that make their music a force to be reckoned with. DUH! has something for everyone. Whether it be hip-hop or hype-pop, the mini-album is an incredible showcase of the versatility and talents of P1Harmony; as well as an unbelievable showcase of K-Pop music production.

DUH! serves as a launchpad for everything P1Harmony has in-store for 2025; with the boys headlining K-Con LA and releasing a new lightstick for P1ece. It's safe to say this year will be another smash-hit for Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, and Jongseob.
