Pride, Power, and Pop at Suffolk Downs
Boston’s music scene just got a little louder—and a lot prouder. OUTLOUD Music Festival made its East Coast debut this weekend at Suffolk Downs, transforming the historic racetrack into a kaleidoscope of sound, style, and unapologetic queer joy.
The lineup was a genre-defying celebration of LGBTQ+ artistry and allyship. Pop provocateur Kim Petras headlined with a glitter-drenched set that had the crowd in full euphoria, while drag superstar Trixie Mattel brought camp, charisma, and a killer guitar solo.
Some of the highlights included Rebecca Black and G Flip who each delivered high-energy performances. In fact, Rebecca Black celebrated her birthday with the crowd and said that there is no other place she would rather have her birthday show. The audience sang for her, which made her blush.
G Flip energized the crowd by performing some of their recent releases, “Big Ol’ Hammer” and the 80’s inspired “Disco Cowgirl.” Everybody chimed in for the chorus of Big Ol’ Hammer where the crowd was a sea of fans, flags, and hands.
The crowd’s energy never died down. From spontaneous dance circles to heartfelt singalongs, OUTLOUD Boston wasn’t just a music festival—it was a moment. A statement. A celebration of identity, resilience, and the power of being seen and heard.
After two successful years in West Hollywood, OUTLOUD’s expansion to Boston felt both timely and necessary. If this debut is any indication, the city is more than ready to make OUTLOUD a new Pride tradition.
