Between Whisper and Roar: Of Monsters and Men’s Captivating Boston Return
Of Monsters and Men returned to Boston for their rescheduled show on December 3 at Roadrunner. Before the band stepped onto stage, the room was buzzing with a warm, anticipatory energy.
The band eased into the set with newer material from their latest album, “All is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade,” including “Television Love” and “Dream Team” setting a dreamy tone. From there, the night unfurled into a carefully curated blend of old and new. Fan favorites like “King and Lionheart” and “Little Talks” were woven between the newer tracks, giving longtime fans those electric moments of recognition while allowing the band’s current creative chapter to stand confidently on its own.
The production echoed that philosophy. Lighting shifted between soft pastel washes and moodier shadows, often illuminating the band in ways that underscored the emotional arc of each song. But what lingered most was the sincerity. Between songs, the band spoke with an unforced warmth, offering small anecdotes and expressions of gratitude. By the end of the evening, the Boston show was heartfelt, vivid, and intimate.
