Nektar in Gothenburg

Nektar, an indie rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden, put on an insanely gut-wrenching performance at Pustervik in Gothenburg, Sweden on January 17th, 2026. They are currently doing shows in Sweden and the surrounding area playing favorites from their newest album, “Om du behöver mig,” released this past November to follow up their 2024 album, “Magnolia.”
At Pustervik, there were posters up from bands that Nektar knows and appreciates. To watch them play a sold out show at that venue with an electric crowd of die hard fans was such a beautiful thing to witness knowing what this venue means. They played my personal favorite, “Gubben I Lådan,” early on along which set the energy for the night. That song encapsulates the beauty of Nektar: you think you know where the song is going and, just when you think it can't get any better, it does. Many of their songs have gliding versus into catchy choruses; however, the twist I love is when they throw the most heavenly bridge you have ever heard 3/4th of the way through their songs. Similar songs, like their title track, “Om du behöver mig,” and the first song I heard of theirs, “Stå upp,” wrapped the night up with this similar cadence.
Frontman, Ilean, ended the concert with thanking everyone that continues to show up for them saying “Tusen tack” (or “a thousand thanks”); but, it did not end there. Afterwards, the band stayed by the merch table to talk to fans and connect with their community. Even though they have been setting up, prepping and playing for hours, they still showed up for their fans. Heading in to this new year with their November release of “Om du behöver mig” feels like the beginning of a fruitful year for the budding band with them being one to keep on the radar for shows, music and more!
