Lord Huron in Pittsburgh

Walking in unexpectedly to the world Lord Huron created at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 7th, 2025 was an experience like no other.
A novice listener, such as myself, was not prepared for the elaborate story telling, hidden easter eggs and overarching plot of the alleged concert both frontman, Ben Schneider, and his six bandmates put on. As someone who pregamed with Lord Huron’s most recent release, "The Cosmos Selector Vol. 1,” knowing glances and appreciation were shared throughout as the setlist played through. Whether you’re similar to me or to the latter, it was an unforgettable performance.
Starting with the set (yes, I said set) on stage; there was a huge screen portraying desolate scenes of desert sunsets behind the band, a rocky outcrop with grass patches, which the band was scattered onto and a phone booth at the center of all of it. This phone booth was an integral part of the story that would be told throughout the performance. Ringing at various times, Schneider interacting with it and dancer, JaVonte Marquez, picking it up to trigger a series of dances that would be scene throughout various songs during the Lord Huron set. Marquez and Marin Rylee were the dancers that performed throughout the set. As if this wasn’t enough entertainment, the commentary made by the band and through recordings added another level.
From comedic statements about Napster and what Schneider thinks about people who listen to VHS to hearing over the loudspeaker “no one escapes the cosmic fate,” there was no shortage of the range of engagement on this tour.
