Lake Street Dive in Chicago

Lake Street Dive brought their Good Together tour to Chicago with a two night residency at The Salt Shed. The band, which met during their time at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2004, has been polishing their sound and showing off their talent ever since. The tour embarks fresh off the release of their 2024 album of the same name, Good Together. Their ensemble for tour consists of core members vocalist Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, drummer Mike Calabrese, keyboardist Akie Bermiss, Chicago’s very own James Cornelison on guitar, and a three piece horn section.

The show was good vibes from start to finish. The bulk of the setlist consisted of tracks from the aforementioned project, Good Together, but there was no shortage of fan favorites like “Hypotheticals”. The stage for the show has a sense of grandeur, with a massive set backed by a rainbow of light, however, the band was able to bring in fans for a number of intimate moments. The first of which happened halfway through the set. The core five members of Lake Street Dive gathered around the bar and played an acoustic set consisting of deep cuts they had “put out to pasture,” like “Side Pony”. The band even brought out opener Katie Pruitt for a song during this mini set!

An exciting moment for fans in the pit occurred during single off the album, Dance With A Stranger. Front woman, Rachael Price, encouraged fans to dance, all while sneaking off stage and going to dance with strangers herself! The show was also not short of crowd pleasers. Performing covers of “Still The One” by Shania Twain and their famous rendition of “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates. The set closed out with 2018 smash hit “Good Kisser” during the encore. Lake Street Dive’s “Good Together” tour is nothing short of good vibes. If you weren’t able to catch their show in Chicago, they still have 12 stops left around the US and a European leg of the tour!
