On May 26th, 2025, at Massey Hall, Katie Gavan performed a riveting opening performance for Lucy Dacus’ show. Performing some of her most popular and heartwarming tracks from her new album “What A Relief”, Katie moved all Toronto Indie music lovers.

Accompanied by her 4 membered band, she opened the tour with ‘Casual Drug Use’: the fourth track on the album. A song that explores the intricacies of managing personal struggles and the complicated ways we choose to manage them. Next, she played one of my favorite songs, “ As good as it gets”. As the song played, I watched as couples and friends sang and held each other, basking in the special atmosphere created by Katie herself.

Katie Gavin, known for her talent, lyrics and guitar skills, is also famously known for her wit and charisma. All while between songs, she was simultaneously pulling at our heartstrings while making us laugh at her jokes, setting the stage for Lucy Dacus.
