JUSTB in Chicago

K-Pop boy group, JUSTB, officially debuted in 2021, made up of unique members Bain, Jimin (who’s currently on hiatus for mental health), Siwoo, Geonu, Sangwoo, and DY. What sets JUSTB apart is the individuality each of these six members brings to the table, which is showcased beautifully in their live shows and across their eclectic discography. The six-piece group has made waves in the K-Pop scene over the last year, with their song “CHEST” gaining popularity in K-Pop spaces, and member Bain making history as the first active K-Pop idol (in a group) to come out as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The energy JUSTB brings to the table was evenly rivaled by ONLYB (fandom) at Chicago’s stop of the “Snow Angel” Tour at Distro Music Hall. A JUSTB concert is less of a K-Pop show and more of a rave with intermissions of drag and punk, while each member blended seamlessly into every single concept thrown at them.

The first portion of the show featured JUSTB’s signature style - EDM/Dubstep with explosive yet sharp choreographies - opening with songs from their latest comeback SNOW ANGEL, and closing with “MEDUSA” before moving on to their solo stages.

The first solo stages featured DY and Siwoo showing off their passionate vocals with acoustic performances of a Keshi cover and an unreleased original song. The vibe was immediately switched with solo/unit stages featuring more unreleased original songs by Geonu and Sangwoo. The last solo stage was a nearly half-hour-long Lady Gaga cover set by Bain, adorned in a corset and stilettos, and showing off his powerful performance skills while sprinkling in original Gaga choreography.

In another massive vibe switch, the boys returned to the stage accompanied by DY on guitar. This portion of the show is the aforementioned punk intermission, featuring explicit tracks like “Daddy’s Girl” and “Still I Love You,” before DY was able to showcase ballads he wrote and composed for the group, “Hoodie” and “Han Geol Eum Man.”

The show “ended” with “FREEDOM,” a techno ballad from SNOW ANGEL, before coming back for a reprise of “SNOW ANGEL.” Already having gone overtime, the boys wanted to perform more, but were brought offstage by staff.

JUSTB’s passion, creativity, and individuality is a shining light in the K-Pop industry. With a discography that has something for all kinds of music fans, and members with a strong work ethic, JUSTB is one to watch. If you missed their show in Chicago, JUSTB still has “SNOW ANGEL” shows all across the west coast.
