Split Ends & Shredded Solos: Briston Maroney and Peach Pit Bring Hair, Heart, and Heat to Los Angeles

The “Long Hair, Long Life Tour” hit LA’s Greek Theatre with the force of a glittery tornado of indie rock joy, and it’s safe to say the vibes were as immaculate as the manes were flowing.

Briston Maroney kicked off the night with a rainforest café fever dream of a stage with mossy trees, faux boulders, and mic stands camouflaged like jungle relics. It felt like nature called, and Briston answered with a guitar solo. The set was all color, power, and Briston’s signature emotional punch, featuring highlights like “Real Good Swimmer,” “Small Talk,” and a cowboy-boot callout before “Caroline.” (“If you’re wearing cowboy boots, this one’s for you.”) He closed with the raucous anthem “Freakin’ Out on the Interstate,” launching the crowd into a full-body serotonin buzz.

Peach Pit followed with thanks to Briston’s “hotness” and talent, then ripped into a cheeky “War Pigs/Magpie” cover before diving into fan favorite “Drop the Guillotine.” Their setup leveled the playing field with risers putting every band member eye-to-eye with fans. Their setlist was stacked: “Alrighty Aphrodite,” “Black Licorice,” “Shampoo Bottles,” and “Up Granville” all hit like fan-service gold. Guitarist Chris stole scenes all night, pogoing across the stage and getting face-to-face with fans on the barricade. Lead singer Neil was all charisma, especially during the heartfelt encore where he shared how the band started—then reminded the crowd (twice!) how not to mess up the chorus of “Peach Pit.”

But the night didn’t end quietly. “Tommy’s Party” closed the set with unexpected pyro that lit up the Greek like a Fourth of July finale. Long hair? Check. Long life? After that show? Guaranteed.
